The wrong door makes the room work harder.

Look down at the freezer entrance. Frost on the threshold, water at the sweep, and a compressor that never seems to stop usually start at the opening. A forklift lane cycled 300 times a shift needs a different door than a cooler someone walks into twice an hour. We match the door to the traffic, install it with the envelope, and service the parts that wear.

Every door uses a 100% polyurethane core with German STUV hardware. The listed sizes are standard ranges, not limits. The final door is built to the opening, the temperature, the wall system, and the way the traffic approaches it.

Where door failures start

  1. 01
    Heat where frost starts
At 0°F, warm moisture freezes first at the frame and threshold. Heater wire, a PU core, and continuous gaskets stop that path when they're installed and maintained right. A failed heater wire still needs service.
  2. 02
    Wear parts close by
Hinges, gaskets, sweeps, motors, closers, and controls wear because the door is doing its job. We stock them for the doors we install, so a small failure doesn't become a week with the opening propped up.
  3. 03
    Installed with the envelope
A door is a moving hole in an insulated wall. We coordinate its frame, threshold, heater wire, floor transition, and panel connection as one opening. Separate details done by separate crews are where leaks begin.
03

A sealed door still needs maintenance.

The door is tight on installation day. Then gaskets flatten, closers drift, sweeps tear, and heater wires fail quietly. The first visible signs are frost, water, a damaged threshold, or longer compressor run time.

The service schedule follows the traffic, not the calendar. We install every door we sell and service it for life. A high-cycle forklift opening gets checked more often than a walk-through door on a dry cooler.

Questions we answer every week

Should I use a sliding or hinged cold-storage door?

Choose by what passes through the opening. Forklifts and pallet jacks usually need a sliding door, because nothing swings into the lane. Add automatic operation when the cycle count is high. Foot traffic usually wants a hinged single- or double-leaf door: simple, and cheaper to maintain. Hands-full movement between processing zones fits a two-way door with a vision panel. If people keep propping a door open, the door doesn't fit the job.

Why does my freezer door ice up?

Warm, moist air reaches a cold frame, threshold, or gasket and freezes. Prevention starts with heater wire in the frame and threshold, a polyurethane core without an easy thermal bridge, and gaskets that close evenly. On an existing door, the heater wire has often failed or the gasket and sweep have flattened. Those are normal service items, not reasons to replace the whole door. The caveat is maintenance: even the right heated door ices when its seals are ignored.

What cold-storage doors do I need at a loading dock?

Three parts working together: a dock seal or shelter around the trailer, a low-temperature dock leveler that bridges the trailer floor without becoming a thermal bridge, and a sectional overhead door for the empty bay. The assembly is rated from -30°C to +65°C, so it works on the cold side and in direct summer heat. Trailer size, approach, wind exposure, and cycle count still have to be checked at the site.

What is a two-way cold-room door used for?

People or carts moving between processing zones with their hands full. A 40mm two-way leaf swings either direction, closes itself, and has a vision panel so traffic can see through the opening. It works between cutting, packing, and staging rooms where washdown and hygiene matter. It's not the door for a 0°F freezer or a forklift lane; those openings need a tighter insulated door matched to their traffic.
